Suspended sediment over Mississippi sand-dune

Whats seen:
Large plumes of suspended sediment entrained from the bed by turbulence advecting with flow over the lee-side of an alluvial sand-dune. Data were collected from a boat moored at a point at a 10Hz ping repetition frequency, at 400kHz and with the swath parallel with streamwise flow.

About the Data survey:

Pioneering work carried out by Dr Steve Simmons (Hull), Prof Dan Parsons (Hull) & Prof Jim Best (Illinois) using multibeam backscatter data to measure suspended sediment concentrations and flow velocities across a two-dimensional area in the field for the first time.

Where:
Confluence of the Missouri and Mississippi near St Louis, USA.
